Following 'Beat the Credit Crunch' event held at Stratford College in March, a follow up event Selling to the Public Sector is being held specifically for local businesses hosted jointly by Stratford-on-Avon District Council and Warwickshire County Council.

Bosses of small and medium businesses in the Stratford District area are being invited to attend a recession-busting seminar at Elizabeth House in Stratford-upon-Avon.

The seminar offers SMEs the chance to find out about maximising their opportunities for trading and business development.

The day will be split into two seminars, at 9.30am repeated at 2pm, with the opportunity to talk with representatives from local authorities, Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Small Businesses and Business Link.

Local authorities are among the biggest purchasers of goods and services in the region and the event will demonstrate how local authorities buy those goods and services.

Guests will learn how to locate and tender for local authority contracts, and also how to find out who larger contracts have been let to so that SMEs can tender as sub-contractors.

The event will also look at the support available for businesses, and will cover everything from finance to HR, marketing and sales.

* The event is being held in the Council Chamber on Monday 11 May, at Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon.
