Local residents keen to protect themselves during these challenging economic times now have access to free information and budget advice thanks to Stratford-on-Avon District Council and their partners.

Working with Orbit Heart of England Housing Association and the Coventry and Warwickshire Co-operative Development Agency, the District Council is opening its doors every Tuesday afternoon between 1pm and 4pm at its Elizabeth House headquarters to give people free help and support with their finances.

The services they provide include, opening a bank account, budgeting advice, a bill paying service, access to loans, regular savings and access to other financial services.

"Stratford District is no different to anywhere else in the difficulties people are facing in the current economic downturn.  Many people require access to advice and services who until the recent financial crisis had no need to consider what was available. What we want to do is give people, particularly vulnerable groups, the best advice and support that we can to prevent financial problems or stop these problems escalating," says Councillor Sue Wixey Customer Services Portfolio.

"It is great to be working in partnership with these organisations to help people from the District survive the gloomy economic situation and we hope that many people in the District will take advantage of this opportunity and come along to receive this free information that will be of great benefit to them."
