Thirteen events across Stratford-on-Avon District will take place thanks to a grant from Stratford-on-Avon District Council in partnership with Warwickshire County Council.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council together with Warwickshire County Council recently invited applicants to apply for small amounts of funding to support local events and festivals held within Stratford-on-Avon District before 1 October 2010.

Applicants had to demonstrate that their event or festival would support the local economy and specifically involve businesses from the local area.

"I am delighted that through the small amount of funding available, we have been able to support a wide range of events across the district.  Promoting economic vitality in the District by funding projects supporting economic growth and recovery is crucial in the current economic climate.  Local businesses shape the character of our community and the more support local Councils can provide now, the better the prospects for businesses will be in the future," says Councillor Mike Brain, Community Services Portfolio Holder.
