Is there a role for young people in local government?   The popular perception amongst the young is that council membership is only for those with, shall we say, a generous helping of life experience.  Or, to put it another way, the middle aged.

The fact is that council membership is open to younger members of society.  To stand for election you need to have passed your 18th birthday.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council is always keen to hear the voice of the young and has already established a set of Youth Panels designed to give young people the opportunity to raise the issues most relevant to them and help set the agenda for today as well as tomorrow.

Council membership would offer an even closer involvement, so if you think you could have a role in shaping your community, why wait?  To find out more about becoming a candidate please contact Darren Whitney, Democratic Services Manager at Stratford-on-Avon District Council on 01789 260210 or email elections@stratford-dc.gov.uk
