8 candidates will be contesting the Stratford-on-Avon Parliamentary Constituency General Election on Thursday 6 May.

The candidates are:

  • Neil Basnett (Independent)
  • Fred Bishop (English Democrats)
  • Robert Johnston (Labour)
  • George Jones (BNP)
  • Brett Parsons (UKIP)
  • Martin Turner (Lib Dem)
  • Karen Varga (Green)
  • Nadhim Zahawi (Conservative)

Polling on 6 May will be carried out with the local District Elections at over 100 stations around the District, with hours of polling being 7.00am to 10.00pm.

The MP for Stratford-on-Avon was John Maples from 1997 - 2010.

The next General Election will be held on Thursday 6 May and will be run on new Constituency Boundaries. The Parishes within Stratford-on-Avon District will fall into either the Stratford-on-Avon Constituency (in the west of the District) and the Kenilworth and Southam Constituency (in the East). The Kenilworth and Southam Constituency also contains parts of Warwick District Council and Rugby Borough Council.

Most Parishes and District Wards are coterminous with the new Parliamentary Constituencies but in the Snitterfield and Wellesbounre areas there are some anomalies - For further information regarding this or any of the other boundaries check out www.election-maps.co.uk alternatively contact the Elections office on 01789 260209.
