Although the General and District elections are now complete there are still Town and Parish Elections to take place in Stratford-on-Avon District on Thursday 27 May 2010 and Poll Cards, for the Stratford wards, notifying residents of these elections have been sent out from the District Council this week.

The Poll cards inform residents in the District where their polling station is and when they can vote from, 7am until 10pm on 27 May.

Since this follows hot on the heels of the District and Parliamentary elections some electors may be surprised to receive another poll card.  The poll card is for Stratford-upon-Avon Town Council elections.

Paul Lankester, Returning Officer, says: "A consequence of the General Election being called on the same day as the District elections was that Parish Elections were put back three weeks by the Government.  To avoid confusion between the different elections, poll cards were not sent out until after the General Election.

"However I recognise the Poll Card does not state clearly that the election taking place is for the Stratford-upon-Avon Town Council, and if this is not clear to voters I apologise for any confusion this may cause."

For all elections enquiries please contact Stratford District Council's election office on 01789 260209.

The contested Parish wards this year are: Little Compton, Long Itchington, Stratford Alveston, Stratford Avenue and New Town, Stratford Guild and Hathaway, Stratford Mount Pleasant and will also include 2 Parish Council by-elections in Henley-in-Arden and Southam Browns Bridge Ward.
