People across Stratford-on-Avon District are being asked to make Christmas extra special for local rescue dogs.
Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Dog Warden, Lisa Parkes, has organised a shoebox appeal for those dogs that find themselves in rescue centres over the festive period.
The idea is simple from now until Monday 15 December – fill a shoebox with doggy delights and drop it into the Council Offices in Stratford-upon-Avon during opening hours.
The shoeboxes will then be distributed to local rescue centres in time for Christmas.
Items to include: food, toys, treats, balls, collars even a harness of a coat – all donations will be warmly received.
Lisa has also set up a 'Canine Christmas Countdown' feature on the 'Stratford DC Dog Warden' Facebook page – showing those dogs currently awaiting adoption at local rescue centres.
Lisa Parkes, Stratford District Council Dog Warden says: “Please find it in your hearts to support our extra-special appeal. Spread a little magic for our four-legged friends this Christmas time."
