Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Core Strategy public examination begins in the New Year on Tuesday 6 January 2015 at the District Council Offices in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Planning Inspector, Pete Drew BSc (Hons) Dip TP MRTPI has been appointed by the Secretary of State to carry out the examination into the District Council's Core Strategy.
The examination is to determine whether the Core Strategy is sound and complies with all the legal requirements. The criteria for soundness are whether the Plans' policies are positively prepared, justified, effective and consistent with national policy.
The Examination-in-Public sessions will begin on Tuesday 6 January and continue over a 4 week period. They run from 9.30am to 5.30pm daily and are open to the public. However, participation in the sessions is determined in advance by the Inspector and limited to those who have made representations relevant to the topic under consideration.
The full programme of Hearing sessions has been published on the District Council's website at www.stratford.gov.uk/examination and confirms the key questions that will be subject to examination in each individual session.
Cllr Chris Saint, Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council says: “We have now had confirmation by the Planning Inspector of the full programme for the public examination of our Core Strategy. We are continuing to make progress along the journey as we reach this critical stage in the whole process and it is in all of our best interests to get this concluded as soon as possible. There is a substantial amount of paperwork and documents to go through which is all part of the process to ensure the end product meets all the necessary requirements. I am optimistic that we shall have a sound plan when the process has been completed."
Once the Examination has concluded the Planning Inspector will write a report, which may result in changes to the Core Strategy, known as main modifications. Any main modifications will be subject to a further consultation exercise.
