Attendance Allowance is a tax-free benefit. You may be eligible if you're aged 65 or over and need help with personal care because you're physically or mentally disabled.
Carer's Allowance is a taxable benefit to help people who look after someone who is disabled. You do not have to be related to, or live with, the person that you care for.
Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is a tax-free benefit for disabled people who need help with mobility or care costs.
Employment and Support Allowance provides financial help to people who are unable to work because of illness or disability. It also provides personalised support to those who are able to work.
Incapacity Benefit is being replaced with Employment and Support Allowance (ESA). You will be reassessed if you are already claiming Incapacity Benefit to decide if you're capable of work or eligible for ESA.
