1st Shottery Scout Group were successful in their application for £10,606 to refurbish the scout hut.

The Shottery Scout Hut is tucked away in a secret corner of Stratford-upon-Avon and has been there since 1912. Although the building has developed and evolved since then, it is now in need of some TLC. This well-used space enables children from age 6 to 14 to develop important life skills, build friendships and support their local community. The Hut is in need of a new electrical system, insulation and walls to enable the hut to be compliant and improve functionality and energy usage, ensuring the hall can be used, not only by the Scouts, but they also have plans to open up the hut to the wider community, as a space for exercise and other types of classes and activities, making it a true community space.

Rob Farquharson, Group Lead Volunteer says:
"1st Shottery Scout Group are absolutely delighted to receive funding from the Council to refurbish the inside of our Scout Hut. The hut is used every week by over 140 young people from the local community, but the building has become cold and damp over time. The refurbishment work will help create a warmer, safer and more welcoming environment for everyone who uses the facility. This investment will make a lasting difference to our young people and the wider community for years to come, and we are extremely grateful for the Council's support."
Works have started and things are looking better already! Watch this space for more updates...
