Stratford-on-Avon District Council works with a local charity called the Inclusive Leisure Education Activities Project (ILEAP) .
ILEAP has been running inclusive leisure opportunities in the local community since 2000. It aims to offer children and adults with Additional Needs opportunities for fun and friendship during their leisure time.
The charity works with its members and their families to offer an exciting and rewarding programme of leisure activities in the evenings, at weekends and during school holidays. All the activities take place in the local community and offer a safe and structured environment where participants can build confidence and raise self-esteem while having fun with friends old and new.
The activities also provide busy families with a short break, in the knowledge that their loved one is being cared for and is taking part in an activity they enjoy.
Activities are user led and include things like youth clubs, cinema trips, swimming, outdoor pursuits, arts and crafts, sports and games, music and movement, cookery clubs, holiday play schemes, day trips, residential activities, meals out, pub nights, discos, birthday parties, bingo, karaoke, ten pin bowling, drama clubs, pottery and many more.
All activities are user-led and so the programme is constantly improving based on feedback from customers and their families.
Anyone interested in joining the charity can find out more information and register via the ILEAP website or by calling 01789 260644 / 07980 004381.
The activities take place across South Warwickshire and beyond although Members aged 4 years and over can live anywhere.
