Stratford-on-Avon District Council Parking Consultation

Responses must be received by FRIDAY 26 MARCH 2021 when this consultation closes.

Overview

Stratford-on-Avon District Council is carrying out public consultation on the proposed introduction of new parking charges and the length of time vehicles can be parked for.

Why are we consulting

Due to the rising costs of operating and maintaining car parks and keeping streets clean, the Council is carrying out a public consultation exercise regarding some of the Council's off-street car parks.

The consultation is taking place now to allow enough time for the Council to consider responses before any changes are used to shape future parking policy.

To understand our service users, the consultation looks at the frequency and duration of car park stays, alongside the reasoning for parking in those car parks.

What we are consulting about

We are consulting on a number of elements.

Fisherman's Car Park, Stratford-upon-Avon

The Council is considering introducing charging at Fisherman's Car Park which is the only free car park in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Leisure Centre Coach and Lorry Park, Stratford-upon-Avon

The Council is considering increasing the overnight charge for motorhomes at the Leisure Centre Coach and Lorry Park from £2 to £20, limiting the maximum stay at the car park to 24 hours with no return within 72 hours. The Council has taken into consideration the local rates offered to motorhomes for overnight parking. For example, the current tariff for a non-electric pitch at Stratford Racecourse (a 20-30 minute walk from Stratford Town Centre) is £17 per night.

Leisure Centre Car Park, Stratford-upon-Avon

The Council is considering reducing the maximum stay for permit holders at the Leisure Centre Car Park from 4 hours to 3 hours, to ensure that the permit is only used when using the Leisure Centre facilities.

The Greig Leisure Centre Car Park, Alcester and Shipston Leisure Centre Car Park, Shipston-on-Stour

The Council is considering introducing a maximum stay of two hours at The Greig Leisure Centre and Shipston Leisure Centre, to eliminate the misuse of the car parks by non-leisure centre users.
