Help and Advice for Council Tax Debt

Council Tax is a priority debt, but if you are having difficulty in making a statutory instalment payment on time, or are in arrears with your Council Tax, we may be able to help you:

• You may be entitled to a discount or exemption .
• You may be able to claim a Local Council Tax Reduction .
• The council may be prepared to recalculate your payments and set up a special arrangement.

If you are struggling to make payment, it is important that you contact us as soon as possible; delaying may mean that you incur court costs and, if the account is passed to enforcement agents, additional fees.

In order to set up a special arrangement, the council needs to see your complete financial situation. Therefore, please complete a financial enquiry form and return it to us as quickly as possible.
