Senior Para-sports Person Award

The winner of the 2018 Senior Para-sports Person Award is Dan Gill, Bears Wheelchair Basketball Club.

Dan joined the Bears in 2014 after being injured in Afghanistan. Since joining the team he has made a meteoric rise in the club, helping the Bears achieve back to back promotions to the 1st Division. Last season he led the Bears 2nd team to an unbeaten season and promotion to the British Wheelchair Basketball 2nd Division. Dan also played a starring role for the British Invictus Wheelchair Basketball team in Toronto, helping the British team to achieve the bronze medal. This season, Dan has progressed and moved up to a main role in the Bears team who will be looking for promotion to the British Wheelchair Basketball Premier League.

Award Criteria

Each nominee must:

  • have displayed an outstanding achievement in disability sport have shown great sportsmanship, motivation and determination in their sport
  • have been aged 18 or over on the date of the most recent achievement included in the nomination
