Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick District Councils are considering a proposal to merge, creating a new District Council covering the whole of South Warwickshire (the areas currently covered by Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick District Councils).
The public consultation on the plans to create a South Warwickshire Council starts this week on Monday 6 September and runs until Sunday 24 October.
The consultation document and online questionnaire can be viewed and completed at: www.southwarwickshire.org.uk
The Council ran a six-week public consultation on the draft SPD between 7 January and 19 February 2021. The consultation has now closed and we are currently considering the responses received.
The SPD is one of a number of SPDs that accompanies the Core Strategy, and provides detailed advice and guidance to applicants when submitting planning applications relating to Gypsy and Traveller and Travelling Showpeople accommodation. When finished (adopted) it will be used by the District Council to help reach decisions on whether to approve or refuse planning applications.
The consultation draft sets out the need for additional permanent accommodation within the District and identifies areas where new Gypsy and Traveller and Travelling Showpeople sites may be suitable, subject to planning permission, as well as guidance on what any new sites should look like in respect of their design and layout.
