Finalists in Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Building Excellence Awards have been invited to an awards ceremony on Thursday 22 June at the Town Hall in Stratford-upon-Avon starting at 2pm.

Builders, architects and owners of developments have been drawn from a field of more than 2,000 projects that have been completed in the last two years within the Stratford-on-Avon District, with an independent judging panel* choosing the finalists for each category.

The awards recognise excellent practice across a complete range of buildings - from major and minor commercial work to the construction of new homes, conversions, domestic extensions and sustainable developments, with nominations made by our surveyors and by others for work completed between 2014 and 2016.

The awards not only highlight excellence in build quality and workmanship, but also recognise team working, sustainable design and technical innovation.

The judging panel have assessed the nominations based on:

  • Quality of construction
    Client experience
    Level of inspection
How well executed was the project
    How conscientious was the builder
    Innovation
    Wow factor
    Quality of design
    Sustainability

These awards differ from others in the industry by acknowledging the often unseen contribution that Building Control makes towards the built environment. By working closely with the local building sector, Local Authority Building Control services ensure projects comply with building regulations, resulting in safe, sustainable and accessible buildings across the area.

*The Judging Panel comprised:

Anna Thompson - Business Development Director for LABC
Paul Robertson - Senior Project Manager at Mace Ltd
Mick Price - Local Architect and retired Building Control Officer Ends
