The Christmas lights will be sparkling and a warm welcome awaits at Stratford-upon-Avon's very first three day Victorian Christmas Market which takes place on:

Friday 8th December   - 10am until 9pm
Saturday 9 December - 10am until 9pm
Sunday 10 December - 10am until 5pm

We are delighted to announce that Queen Victoria (Councillor Victoria Alcock, Mayor of Stratford-upon-Avon) and Prince Albert (Councillor George Atkinson, Chairman of the District Council) will be officially opening the Victorian Christmas Market when they will be joined by other guests and dignitaries.

The town's streets will be filled with 150 stalls selling an array of goods including local arts and crafts, international products, festive gifts and tempting international street food. There will be plenty of festive spirit including local gins, mulled wine, Baileys and other Christmas cheer.

Traders dressed in Victorian attire will be showcasing and selling their wares to eager customers looking for unusual and unique Christmas gifts.  There will be something for everyone to suit all budgets and tastes.

The schedule of entertainment and cheer will get even the biggest of humbugs into the Christmas spirit with an eclectic programme provided by professional and local amateur entertainers including bands, musicians, singers, choirs, Victorian street entertainers and the 'Dancing Grannies'!

A Vintage fun fair with Carousel, helter-skelter, swing boats, Ferris Wheel and traditional rides all add to the fun and merriment.

Councillor Dave Riches, Enterprise and Revenues Portfolio at Stratford-on-Avon District Council says: "We are delighted to be working with The Town Council and LSD Promotions, our new market contractor to bring this very first Victorian Christmas Market Festival to Stratford-upon-Avon.

"We are pleased that the event is also being supported by Stratforward and The Herald.   We hope to see an increase in footfall to the town particularly at this time of year and that it will bring a boost to the local economy.

"We would encourage both residents and visitors to come an experience what we hope will be a truly magical event.  We want Stratford-upon-Avon to be the must go to Christmas destination for everyone."

The Mayor, Councillor Victoria Alcock echoed Cllr Riches sentiments, and added: "It has been a privilege working with the District Council and LSD Promotions to stage this important new event for the town.

"I am also proud to represent the Town Council on the Christmas Lights Committee, and am so delighted that the forthcoming Christmas Festival will enable more people than ever to witness the town's truly spectacular displays which add that sparkling finite touch to the Festival.

"There will be so much to see and do over the three days and I look forward, together with the Chairman of the District Council, to opening proceedings on Friday 8 December at 11am on the stage at the top of Wood Street.  Entering into the Victorian spirit, we too will be dressed appropriately and we look forward to our brief portrayal as Victoria and Albert."

The Victorian Christmas Market is delivered by the District and Town Councils in conjunction with LSD Promotions, the new market contractor.  The event is supported by Stratforward BID and The Herald who is our media sponsors.
