Stratford-on-Avon District Council COVID-19 daily update - 27 March

During the Covid-19 Pandemic Stratford-on-Avon District Council will issue a daily update (from Monday to Friday) for residents and businesses.  

Key updates - 27 March 

• Refuse and Recycling Collection Service
  We are trying our best to ensure that all properties continue to receive a fortnightly refuse and recycling collection during the COVID-19 crisis. Our contractor (Biffa) and their crew are doing a wonderful job working at an extremely stressful time with a reduced workforce due to crew members self-isolating.
  
  In order to ensure a collection for every property, crews will only be able to empty the contents of the bin, and no side waste will be collected with any of the bins during this time to ensure completion of rounds.
  
  
• Chargeable Garden Waste Service
  Council has agreed to defer the introduction of charging for the garden waste service until next year.
  
  
• Business rate grants and hardship fund
  Businesses are being asked to complete an on-line application on the District Council's website to qualify for the grants.
  
  
• Help with Council Tax

• Government Support
  An initial payment of £1.6bn has been made to Councils with the majority going to authorities leading on COVID-19 who will have increased demands for providing adult and child social care services plus money to all Councils for immediate needs. The District Council has received £43,500 and Warwickshire County Council £14.07m.

The District Council is operating very differently, but I hope residents aren't seeing a change in service delivery, as staff are working hard behind the sense to ensure that the 'show goes on'. I'm very proud of how we've pulled together as an organisation during these trying times.  There are still a number of challenges to face and we are doing all we can to support those that need it."
