In accordance with Government guidance, Stratford-on-Avon District Council's main reception at Elizabeth House in Stratford-upon-Avon has been closed to the public this morning.

Arrangements have been made for residents in an emergency, such as homelessness, to speak by a phone link in the outer lobby to a member of staff at our office.

We must stress that visiting Elizabeth House for anything other than an emergency matter contravenes the Government's clear guidance on isolation. If you can ring or email us from home or another safe place please do so.

Our contact centre remains open for residents to continue to speak by a phone to staff at our office on 01789 267575.

However, we are receiving very high call volumes and individual calls are taking a lot longer than usual to handle because of the urgent and complex issues facing some residents.

Please bear with us during this period.

Cllr Tony Jefferson, Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council says: "This is a very fluid and fast moving situation. Often, announcements are made and the detailed guidance follows later. We are also constrained by current legislation although we expect this to be relaxed shortly.

"Everyone is working flat out in very challenging circumstances.  We all appreciate the level of fear and uncertainty there is around, and our contact centre is dealing with difficult and emotional calls. Please try to restrict you requests to the urgent and important."

You can also contact the District Council by email info@stratford-dc.gov.uk  although, of course, we are prioritising the most urgent matters arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
