Site Allocations Consultation

Released on 5 February 2019 Press Release

Stratford News

Stratford-on-Avon District Council is holding a six-week public consultation on additional specific proposals which the Council thinks appropriate to include in its Site Allocations Plan.

The Site Allocations Plan will sit alongside the Core Strategy, the emerging Gypsy and Traveller Plan, and Neighbourhood Plans prepared by Parish Councils. When adopted, it will be used by the District Council to help make decisions on planning applications across Stratford-on-Avon District. It will also enable communities to know where new development may happen in the future.

The consultation document is divided into four parts which can be commented on.

The topics are:

  • Part 1 - Birthplace/Gateway Cultural Quarter, Stratford-upon-Avon. The rejuvenation of this area of town with a co-ordinated approach to the land between Arden Street and Henley Street to improve the public realm with a greater mix of leisure-led uses.

  • Part 2 - Quinton Rail Technology Centre. To support the Quinton Rail Technology Centre and develop the economic potential of the site.

  • Part 3 - A46 Safeguarding. To allow future improvements to the route when funding is available.

  • Part 4 - Employment Exception Sites. Providing more employment sites within the district.

The consultation runs from Monday 4 February to 5pm on Monday 18 March.

The consultation document can be viewed on the District Council's website at www.stratford.gov.uk/siteallocations.

It is also available to inspect at the District Council offices, Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 6HX. Copies of the document can be obtained from the District Council.

The Plan itself, together with all representations, will then be submitted to the Secretary of State for examination. If it is found 'sound' by an independent planning inspector, it can then be formally adopted by the District Council.

Comments must be received by the District Council by 5pm on Monday 18 March 2019.
