Residents clearing up after their festive fun are being encouraged to 'Recycle Right' this Christmas and New Year.

Residents can easily recycle through the kerbside collection of their green and blue bins.

Household plastic packaging such as microwave trays, yoghurt pots and fruit punnets can go in the blue lidded bin, alongside clean foil and sweet / biscuit tins.

For a full guide to what can be recycled from your kerbside collection, check the Council Tax booklet or visit us online at https://www.stratford.gov.uk/waste-recycling/what-we-collect.cfm.

You can also follow our #Recycle Right posts on Facebook and Twitter for daily hints and tips.

If you received presents that you don't want and can't return, you could consider organising a present swap with friends or relatives or donate unwanted gifts to a charity. They could also be swapped or sold online at freecycle.co.uk and ebay.co.uk, two popular sites.

Councillor Mike Brain, Services for the Community Portfolio says: "Christmas is a wonderful time of year but can create extra recycling. The District Council can collect many of these items with your kerbside collection. Food waste and Christmas trees can be collected on the green bin service. Items such as cardboard, plastic food trays of any colour and sweet and biscuit tins can be collected on the blue bin service. Please make a New Year's resolution to recycle as much as possible - it's good for the environment and the future and also saves money."

Warwickshire County Council's household waste recycling centres in the district at Burton Farm, Stratford-upon-Avon; Shipston-on-Stour; Stockton near Southam; and Wellesbourne have recycling containers for a variety of other recyclable items. Please check www.warwickshire.gov.uk for individual opening times and materials accepted.
