The Environment Agency are currently seeking comments on an Environmental Permit for a slurry treatment plant at the Long Itchington Wood Tunnel North Portal near Bascote Heath and Southam.

The plant will treat the slurry generated from a huge tunnel boring machine which will bore out a twin tunnel section over a kilometer long under the Long Itchington Wood - an ancient woodland. An estimated 275,000m3 of material will be treated at the plant and it will be operating 24hours a day over the next 2 years.

The consultation runs until the 2nd June.
