A public inquiry starts next week, Wednesday 9 December, following an appeal by Persimmon Homes (South Midlands) against the refusal of planning permission for the development of Marriage Hill Nurseries, Salford Road, Bidford-on-Avon for up to 75 houses.

The appeal relates to proposals for outline planning permission for up to 75 houses with associated open space, landscaping, parking provision and infrastructure following the demolition of an existing dwelling at no.45 Salford Road and existing nursery buildings at marriage Hill Nurseries submitted under planning application reference 14/03028/OUT.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council refused the planning application on the following grounds:

  • Unsustainable location
  • Landscape harm
  • Highway safety
  • Insufficient information relating to noise and potential land contamination
  • Loss of employment site and harm to the local economy
  • Lack of infrastructure

The inquiry, expected to last for up to 6 days, will be held at The Falcon Hotel, Chapel Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 6HA starting at 10am.  A Government Planning Inspector will preside over the inquiry.

Members of the public may attend the inquiry and express their view – at the discretion of the inspector.

Planning Inspectorate Reference: APP/J3720/W/15/3010653.
