A Public Inquiry starts next week on Tuesday 10 September 2013, following an appeal by Broadview Energy Ltd to erect 4 wind turbines at land between Bishops Itchington, Gaydon and Knightcote.

The appeal relates to the planning application for the proposed erection of 4 wind turbines, up to a maximum tip height of 125 metres high, and other ancillary development including a new vehicular access off the Gaydon Road (B4451), access tracks, vehicular accesses, crane hard standing areas, a control building, underground cabling, construction compound and meteorological mast atland between Bishops Itchington, Gaydon and Knightcote to the southeast of the B4451.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council refused the application on 12 February 2013 on the grounds that the proposals would be harmful to:- the character and appearance of the landscape; the amenity of some nearby residential properties; aviation safety; some heritage assets, particularly the setting of the Beacon Tower at the Burton Dassett Hills; archaeological remains; and would interfere with microwave links.

The Inquiry, expected to last for up to 10 Days, will be held at Ettington Community Centre*, Rogers Lane, Ettington, CV37 7SX starting at 10am.  The Inquiry will not sit on any Mondays or weekends.  A Government Planning Inspector will preside over the inquiry.

Members of the public may attend the inquiry and express their view – at the discretion of the inspector.

Update 10 September: The inspector has announced that the public inquiry will begin at 9.30am each day it is in session.

Planning Inspectorate Reference: APP/J3720/A/13/2193579

*Please note - that members of the public wishing to attend the public inquiry will be admitted on a first come first served basis, until Ettington Community Centre's maximum capacity has been reached, as the centre can only accommodate a certain number of people at any one time.  There is also limited car parking on site and therefore car sharing is advised.
