Stratford District Council has decided to change its senior management structure in a move to drive forward change and improve performance for taxpayers. The move is in line with the Council's ambition to achieve excellence.

The proposed new management structure at the Council will comprise the chief executive, two directors and eight service managers, and is designed to increase the Council's overall capacity. The focus will be on delivering services to the Council's communities, residents, businesses and visitors.

"This new structure is important for the district council to meet its corporate aims and improve," said Cllr Les Topham, the Leader of the Council.

"To match our ambition to be excellent we need the best possible management structure in place."

Staff have been consulted on the structure, and the proposals broadly welcomed by the Staff Representative Group.

Background Notes

The current management structure is a chief executive, three directors and twelve heads of service.

The new structure should be fully implemented early 2006.  The Council also adopted a competency framework for its management focusing on leadership, effective management, building and managing relationships, interpersonal skills, technical knowledge and personal integrity.

The Council's proposals resulted from a review undertaken by an external consultant, Tribal Resourcing, who recommended the new structure and competency framework.
