Proposals for a new leisure facility in Wellesbourne will be on display later this week, to give the public a chance to see what is on offer and to express their views. Stratford-on-Avon District and Wellesbourne Parish Councils are jointly holding the event on Friday and Saturday, 7 & 8 October, at the Conservative Club in Wellesbourne.

A steering group has drawn up three options for a new leisure and social facility at the Mountford sports field site for use by the local community and also the surrounding areas.

Drawings and specifications, including a model of the options, will be on display. Councillors from both the district and parish will also be on hand, along with members of the steering group to help answer any questions.

The district council has allocated £2.5m to this project, with the parish council pledging annual on-going running costs of £20k. Both councils hope that further funding can secured from additional partners for the project.

The three options on display will be:

Option 1 - 25 metre five-lane swimming pool & village change, four-court sports hall & dry side change, fitness suite, two outdoor courts, multi-function area, outdoor changing area, disabled facilities, car parking, social area and ancillary accommodation such as reception, first aid, toilets, etc

Option 2 - as option 1 but without four-court sports hall or dry side change

Option 3 - as option 1 but without 25 metre five-lane swimming pool or village change

Once the comments have been received from the open days the district council will decide which option presents the best way forward.

Anyone who would like to comment on the proposals or would like to become a funding partner should visit the displays on one of the open days.
