Stratford-on-Avon District Council in partnership with Age Concern Warwickshire and the Council for Voluntary Service are hosting a free event for local residents in Shipston and the surrounding villages on Wednesday 7 June.

The free event is at Townsend Hall, Sheep Street, Shipston-on-Stour from 10am to 2pm and will be offering talks on crime prevention, personal safety and health and welfare and over 30 exhibitions providing essential information and advice on services and assistance available in the Shipston area.

There will be presentations throughout the open day on topics such as home safety, and how to minimise hazards, consumer awareness and how to deal with cowboy traders and doorstep callers.  The Warwickshire Police will give tips on improving personal safety.  Warwickshire Fire and Rescue will give advice on the prevention of fires in the home and Warwickshire Specialist Health Promotion Service will talk about preventing falls.  In addition to the safety talks there will be lots of stalls to visit, which will be able to tell you about the services and advice available in the area.

Although this event is likely to be of special interest to over 55's all age groups and carers of older people are welcome.  Light refreshments will be available, so you can have a tea or coffee and take your time to visit the stalls.

Pay and display parking is available on Telegraph Street and two hours free parking is available on Sheep Street and Market Square as well as Mill Street and Bridge car parks.

For further information about this event please call Nancy Singleton at Stratford-on-Avon District Council on 01789 260803.  If you need help with transport please contact Roger Lewis at Age Concern Warwickshire on 01926 311101.
