The new swimming pool at Shipston High School will be opening this Saturday 22 October. Stratford-on-Avon District Council has spent over £2m on the scheme, for which Sports Leisure Management (SLM) have been awarded the contract to manage.

The swimming pool will be open for public swimming on Saturday from 9.00am until 1.00pm. Normal pool programme will operate on Sunday. For more details contact Shipston Leisure Centre on 01608-662354.

An official opening ceremony for the whole leisure facility will take place in January. The new leisure centre has been built to replace the school swimming pool on an adjacent site with a new five-lane 25 metre pool, air-conditioned health and fitness suite, changing accommodation and a spectator lounge.

The district council worked on the £2.15m project with Warwickshire County Council who own the school and land. The contract to design and build the new pool was awarded to Leadbitter Construction Ltd of Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Work started in October last year. SLM also manage the Southam, Stratford and Studley leisure facilities on behalf of the district council.

Further details about the pool can be found on the Shipston Leisure Centre page of this website.
