Wellesbourne by-election

Three candidates will be contesting the seat at the Wellesbourne ward for Stratford-on-Avon District Council and the Wellesbourne division for Warwickshire County Council this Thursday, 20 July.  

The polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm.  

The by-election follows the death in May of Anita Macaulay (Cons).  

The candidates for Stratford District are:          
Priscilla Jean Cook (Liberal Democrat)
Laura Susan Main (Conservative)
John Murray Ritchie (Labour)  

The electorate for the Wellesbourne ward is 5312. Turnout for the last contested election at Wellesbourne was 45.33%.  

The candidates for Warwickshire County Council are:          
David William Johnston (Liberal Democrat)
Laura Susan Main (Conservative)
John Murray Ritchie (Labour)  

The electorate for the Wellesbourne division is 5960. Turnout for the last contested election at county level for Wellesbourne was 70.59% (held the same time as the Parliamentary Election).  

The count for the Wellesbourne by-elections will be held at Wellesbourne Village Hall, School Road, Wellesbourne after polls close at 10pm.  

The current political make-up of the District Council's 53 seats is:          
Conservatives - 29          
Liberal Democrats  - 19 seats          
Independents - 3          
Vacancies - 2 (Wellesbourne & Alcester to be held on 24 August)
