Voters are being reminded that applications for postal votes for next month's local elections in the Stratford District need to be returned by Tuesday 18 April.

A new system is being piloted this year by Stratford-on-Avon District Council, where bar codes will be used to authorise the postal votes.

The new scheme is being trialled by the Government in only two councils in the West Midlands. The other council taking part is Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council. The changes are likely to be introduced nationally next year.

Views on the postal voting changes can be given to the Elections Office at Elizabeth House,  telephone number 01789 260210.

This year's local elections on 4 May in the Stratford District will be for 19 District Council seats, including a by-election in Henley, along with 30 parishes.

Polling hours at around 80 polling stations have also been extended and will now be from 7.00am until 10.00pm.
