Home Choice Plus Allocations Policy changes
Home Choice Plus, Stratford-on-Avon District Council's housing register for housing association homes in Stratford District area, is changing. From 1 June 2015, the new Home Choice Plus Allocations Policy will “go live". The new policy will apply to all households currently registered along with all new applications received after 1 June.
The main change to the policy is the introduction of eligibility criteria in relation to local connection and housing need. This means that in most cases households will need to have a local connection to the Home Choice Plus area in order to be allowed to join the register, along with a recognised housing need.
The Home Choice Plus area consists of the following Districts: Stratford-on-Avon; Wychavon; Wyre Forest; Malvern Hills; Worcester City; Bromsgrove.
Local connection includes the following: current residence in the partnership area for two or more years; current employment in the partnership area for at least 6 months; current residence of immediate family members in the partnership area for at least five years.
In addition to these changes, applicants can also be awarded additional priority on the basis of a community contribution if they are in paid employment, doing voluntary work, on a training course, or caring for someone who is elderly or disabled. If eligible, this will be awarded to applicants in the form of 6 months additional waiting time in the band they have been allocated. Applicants will have to provide evidence in order to qualify for the additional waiting time.
Full details of the new allocations policy will be available on the Home Choice Plus website from the beginning of June 2015.
Applicants who are affected by these changes will be written to after 1 June 2015. Any applicants who are notified they are no longer eligible will be able to request a review of this decision.
