What is a lifeline?

A lifeline is a an electronic device that plugs into a telephone line and power socket and by press of a button rings through to a monitoring centre to notify them you need help. (Some devices may not need you to press a button as they activate automatically)

What is a monitoring centre?

A monitoring centre is a team that works 24 hours a day 365 days a year to answer your request for help. They will follow an agreed procedure to get you the help you need which could include family/friends and if appropriate an emergency service. In the event of an emergency service being required they will also provide them with the number for your key safe.

What is a Key Safe?

A key safe is a pin code protected box, typically made of cast iron. You store an additional set of keys to your home within the box, provide the code to your monitoring centre and these keys will be used by any emergency service responding to a request for help. Without a key safe an emergency service is likely to force entry into your home.
