CGL Service update 24 Mar 2020
Please find an update of the services we are offering and the measures we are taking to keep our service users and staff safe.
Our hubs in Warwickshire are currently open however we have taken steps to reduce the footfall in the premises. We have currently suspended all group work sessions, this includes all structured groups and non-structured such as SMART mutual aid groups. The staff are contacting their service users by phone and offering them telephone appointments and offering alternatives to compliment such as on-line Apps and peer support. For new referrals we are offering triages and assessments also over the phone.
Service users are still able to access drop in and needle exchange however we are adhering to social distancing guidelines. Should someone present to the service with any symptoms, we'd be asking them to leave in order to self-isolate.
A number of staff are in self-isolation and some are working from home due to falling into the at risk category. For the staff that are on site and in order to limit the spread and risk of the virus we have split them into two teams, Team A and Team B. Each team will take it in turns being on site as well as working from home.
We are ensuring that all prescribed service users have an active prescription in the pharmacy and that they will be issued with a 14 day take home supply unless they are homeless or deemed very high risk (then it would be a 7 day supply). Where service users are self-isolating we are in discussions with the pharmacies to deliver the medication or we are seeing if a family member can collect on their behalf. Failing that then we are delivering medication ourselves. Again adhering to social distancing guidelines. All service users will be issued with a lock box and a naloxone kit.
We continue to be in contact with pharmacies regarding their process and should a pharmacy close then we'd look to ensure our service users are supported by another pharmacy. At present, pharmacies are operating as normal. Some have however reduced their opening times.
Service users can call us on 01926 355555. Here's a link to our self-help apps on our website https://www.changegrowlive.org/advice-info/alcohol-drugs
They can use online SMART groups by visiting https://smartrecovery.org.uk/online-meetings/ as well as the Breaking Free Online App https://www.breakingfreeonline.com/ (they will need to give us a call for an access code to this).
As I'm sure is the case with many organisations at present, our response is evolving daily in response to the latest updates from the Government and should our support offer change we'll of course keep all our partner agencies updated.
