All businesses are under a "Duty of Care" for their waste under section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. The duty includes a requirement to only transfer waste to an authorised person and to transfer a written description of the waste to the person taking it.
From 30 October 2007 there has been a requirement for all non hazardous waste to be pre treated before going to landfill. Many of these companies will now either collect the waste and then sort it to remove recyclables or offer a recycling collection service as well as a general waste collection service.
Businesses should not use the Council's mini recycling centres for recycling any of their waste. There are also specialist companies offering recycling services

It is a requirement of Market Stall holders' contracts that they keep their areas clean and free from litter.
