Road accidents, injuries and deaths are sadly all too common. In 1997 there were 769 people killed or seriously injured on Warwickshire's roads. Thankfully by 2007 this figure had reduced to 397.
It's good to know that progress is being made, but we must do better. The Warwickshire County Council road safety unit is dedicated to improving road safety and helping to reduce the number of road injuries and fatalities.
What does the Road Safety Unit do?
- We analyse how crashes have occurred to help prevent them in future
- We use education, engineering and enforcement
- We work in partnership with others; especially the Police.
You can help too!
- Slow down - keep to the limit
- Don't drink and drive
- Wear a seat belt
- Look out for motor bikes - especially at junctions
- Switch off your mobile when you drive
- Set a good example for your children.
