Accessibility

The Stratford District Council website was created and is maintained with accessibility in mind, to make it as easy as possible for disabled users to find the information they are looking for.

Navigation

  • Access Keys – These short cut keys link to pages like the home page or the site map. See more information on Access Keys
  • A-Z – Find pages quickly and easily using our A-Z index located at the top of each page
  • Site Map – This lists all the pages in each category of the website. See site map
  • Search – The search appears on every page and allows you to search all pages and documents. The search will suggest pages available on our website as you type.
  • Consistency – The navigation is consistent across the whole site to make finding information easier

Speech enabled

This website is now speech-enabled, which means that you can download free software onto your personal computer and have the site read aloud to you. See Browsealoud

Languages

Teams at Language Line have been working closely with Local Authorities, NHS bodies and Police Forces throughout the United Kingdom and have identified that there are many verbal interpreting situations that can be successfully fulfilled through Telephone, rather than Face-to-Face Interpreting, with no negative effect for the limited English speaker or the customer end-user. In fact quite the opposite. Visit the Languageline website

Adobe Acrobat documents (PDF's)

Downloadable documents on the site often in Portable Document Format (PDF). Where we have attached a PDF document, we provide a link to the Adobe Acrobat website so that you can download the free Adobe Reader needed to open a PDF. The current version of Acrobat Reader (version 9) has improved accessibility features and includes the facility to read the text out loud. Visit the adobe acrobat reader downloads page

Standards

We aim to reach conformance level AA from the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
