The District Local Plan sets out the Council's policies and proposals for the development and use of land for the period up to 2011. It is used as a basis for considering all planning applications, including those for new housing, industrial and commercial development.
The Plan contains a map of the District - the Proposals Map - that shows a range of designations including those sites earmarked for development, areas subject to specific protection, eg. Green Belt, and features such as conservation areas and ancient monuments.
The current Local Plan Review was adopted on 14 July 2006. The policies and proposals in the Plan will remain in force for at least 3 years until it is replaced by the new Local Development Framework.
District Local Plan Review - July 2006
