Planning Application Forms and Guidance Notes

The Council is now using the national standard 1APP forms. To speed up the process you can submit your application online via the national Planning Portal website.

For further information on how we manage your personal data during the planning application process please read our terms and conditions.

New Forms - 1 October 2009

Two new forms for applicants are introduced from 1 October 2009.

Applications to extend the life of existing planning permissions (and any associated conservation area or listed building consent).

Non-material amendments to existing planning permissions.

Both forms and notes are only available as paper copies to download, complete and post or deliver to the Council Offices. They can also be downloaded from the Planning Applications page on the Planning Portal website.

Planning Application Fees

Fees for Planning Applications - Feb 2010

A fee calculator can also be accessed on the Planning Portal website.

'Sustainable Low-carbon Buildings'

The Council has recently adopted a Supplementary Planning Document called 'Sustainable Low-carbon Buildings' which provides guidance on the implementation of policies to promote sustainable drainage, energy conservation and renewable energy. The requirements apply to all applications for planning permission, including householder applications. You are advised to refer to these new requirements before submitting your application.

Householders

In October 2008 the Government published new legislation regarding the types of development a homeowner can carry out without planning permission. Homeowners can find further details on our Householder Planning page.

From 1 May 2009 Planning Services will no longer be offering the service of providing informal advice on the need for planning permission for alterations to dwellings. If you are uncertain as to whether your proposals are 'permitted development' you may download and complete one of the Self Assessment forms below.

Form 1 - Extensions and alterations to dwellings

Form 2 - Roof alterations to a dwelling

Form 3 - Outbuildings - detached buildings within the curtilage of a dwelling (including pools, enclosures and fuel containers)

Form 4 - Porches - erection or construction of a porch outside any external door of a dwelling.

Form 5 - Provision of or replacement of hard surfacing within the curtilage of a dwelling.

For a formal opinion as to whether you need planning permission you will need to submit an application for a Certificate of Lawful Development.

Simplified Energy Statement form for householders - format for giving information on proposed sustainable drainage and energy efficiency measures as required by the 'Sustainable Low-carbon Buildings' SPD. You can complete this form to meet the requirements for an Energy Statement to accompany a householder planning application.
