Why is the District Council even considering an application which must sure be unacceptable?

The District council must consider any valid application that is submitted, even if the proposal is against its policies. Applications are normally valid if they are made on the correct form, include sufficient plans and information to describe the proposal and are accompanied by the correct fee. There is no judgement of the acceptability or otherwise of the proposal at this registration stage.

The acceptability of a proposal can only be fully tested through the submission of an application. The application process includes publicising the application and carrying out consultations and further investigations. All relevant comments and information gained through the application process must be fully considered in coming to a decision on the application.
