You do not normally need to apply for planning permission for repairs and maintenance.
If you live in a listed building, you will not normally need listed building consent for such maintenance and repairs. However, many external and internal works to a listed building do require listed building consent, if they would affect the character or historic qualities of the building.
If you are in any doubt, we recommend that you fill out a Householders Enquiry form and post it to the Council. We will then advise you in writing whether you need planning permission, or other consents, for your proposal.
Building Regulations approval is not usually required for maintenance and repairs. However, new windows, boilers, electrical work and any structural alterations will be subject to Building Regulations requirements.
