Strategic Housing Market Assessment: Market Review

Outside Consultants were appointed by the Council in March 2009 to undertake a Strategic Housing Market Assessment: Market Review (August 2009) to update aspects of the Joint Housing Assessment which was completed in 2006. The updated information is needed to assist preparation of the Local Development Framework (LDF) and the Housing Strategy.

The Market Review examines recent changes to the housing market in the district, the affordability of housing and demographic trends, all of which have implications for the choice of housing growth options in te LDF. There are also implications for the definition of policies on issues such as affordable housing and proposed housing stock profiles. The Market Review also provides a revised district-level estimate of the need for affordable housing.
