Stage 1 Consultation

The period for comments on the initial consultation paper Eco-towns - Living a Greener Future ended on 30 June 2008. Stratford-on-Avon District Council's response can be downloaded here.

On 24 July 2008 the government published Eco-towns - Living a Greener Future: Progress Report. This eco-towns update follows the end of the first stage of the consultation on the eco-towns programme and sets out:

  • the proposed criteria and planning process for eco-towns (announced by Government on 22 July 2008)
  • an updated list of locations and where to find out more about the proposals
  • sets out how the second stage of consultation will work
  • describes the work underway to assess the proposals across Government and with local authorities and other partners

Council Meeting - 12 May 2008

Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Full Council meeting on Monday 12 May decided not to support the proposed Eco-town development at Long Marston, based on the information currently available. After a recorded vote, the Council unanimously decided to write to the Government asking for the development to be removed from the shortlist and will work accross all parties to achieve this.

Developer Public Exhibitions - June 2008

St Modwen and the Bird Group held public exhibitions of their proposals in Stratford-upon-Avon, Evesham, Chipping Campden and on the 'Middle Quinton' site. Details of the dates and venues of the exhibitions are available to download.

CLG Presentations on the Eco-town Process - July 2008

Henry Cleary, who is the lead official on Eco-towns within Communities and Local Government, gave a presentation on the Eco-town process to a meeting of local representative in Stratford-upon-Avon on 22 July.
