Baker Associates, in association with Enderby Associates, were appointed by the District Council in May 2007 to undertake a Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) for Stratford-on-Avon District. The consultants' Final Report was received in February 2008. (Scroll down this page to find 2008 SHLAA update.)
LDF Evidence Base
The SHLAA was commissioned to contribute to the Evidence Base for the Local Development Framework. It was compiled in accordance with Government guidance set out in Planning Policy Statement 3 (PPS3) and the relevant practice guidance published in July 2007. The SHLAA provides information on the extent of potential opportunities in Stratford-on-Avon District to meet strategic housing needs. It identifies and assesses specific sites and broad locations which may have potential for residential development within the period up to 2026.
It needs to be emphasized that the consultants' report is not an expression of District Council policy. The inclusion of a site or broad location within the report does not mean that it will be released for development automatically. As stated clearly in Government guidance, it is for the Local Development Framework to allocate land for development, taking into consideration the full body of evidence together with the outcome of sustainability appraisal and consultation.
SHLAA Documents
Downloads of the SHLAA are available as listed below. The complete document is very large due to the many maps included and download time is lengthy. As an alternative, downloads of each section of the report are available in order to reduce download time.
