As part of the drive to provide a quicker, more predictable and efficient planning service, the Government is introducing new standard planning application forms (1APP) for applications for planning permission made under the Town and Country Planning system. By 6 April 2008 all planning applications nationally will have to be made using this form.
Additionally, planning applications will be tested for validity against published standard checklists. The checklists are divided into National Requirements and Local Requirements. The checklists set out the information and supporting documentation which is required to be supplied for the different types of application - in order for the application to be validated. By using the checklists, both applicants and Local Authorities can avoid delays in the decision making process.
The new forms and associated validation checklists will be a mandatory requirement from 6 April 2008. The Council formally adopted the Local Requirements part of the validation checklist on 21 April 2008.
