As a part of the Local Development Framework (LDF) for the District the Council is required to publish a Local Development Scheme (LDS). This is a three-year project plan which sets out the current planning policies for the District and how these policies will be reviewed and developed. To this end the LDS serves two key purposes:
- it sets out the current documents which form the development plan for the planning of the District, and
- it provides the programme for the preparation of new development plan documents, setting out a timetable for the various stages in the preparation of each document.
The Council has recently reviewed its programme for preparing LDF documents and the current Local Development Scheme - June 2009 came into effect on 10 July 2009.
However, since that time a number of circumstances have led to the District Council to reconsider its programme for preparing the Core Strategy. In particular, the implications of the Regional Spatial Strategy Phase Two Revision regarding future development requirements for the District need further technical assessment and public engagement.
As a result, the proposed submission version of the Core Strategy has been delayed. Instead a further draft of the Core Strategy has been published for consultation. It is now anticipated that the pre-submission version will be published in Autumn 2010.
The latest situation on the LDS is provided at the end of the Annual Monitoring Report which was submitted to the Secretary of State at the end of 2009.
