This page provides information about the Masterplan which is being prepared in respect of the Former Engineer Resources Depot at Long Marston.
Policy CTY.18 of the Stratford-on-Avon District Local Plan Review requires that any proposals to redevelop the Long Marston site should be supported by a Masterplan prepared in consultation with local communities, neighbouring local authorities and other interested parties. The owners of the site, St Modwen, are now working with the District Council to prepare a Masterplan for the site.
The preparation of the Masterplan is viewed as a pre-cursor to the submission of a planning application which would secure the long-term use of the site.
Consultation 2007
Two initial community consultation events were held in October 2007 at Quinton and Long Marston to gather the community's views on the issues surrounding the development of the site and the potential options for redevelopment. The 2007 exhibition which was used at the events can be viewed here. The consultation was seeking views on four potential options:
- Continuation of existing use
- Leisure and employment
- Leisure option
- Linked new settlement option
People also had the opportunity to suggest alternative options and submit written comments.
Consultation 2008
Following the initial consultation St Modwen have refined their proposals and have developed two more detailed options. These have now been published for public consultation and exhibitions have taken place in Quinton and Long Marston in October 2008. Download the 2008 exhibition and leaflet used at these events. Views are being sought on the following two options:
- Leisure led mixed use
- Residential led mixed use
Comments on the proposals should be submitted to St Modwen's consultants Barton Willmore by Monday 3 November. A comments form is available to download.
What happens next?
The responses to the public consultation will be assessed by Barton Willmore who will develop a final preferred option for the masterplan. It is anticipated this will be submitted to the Council for consideration. The final Masterplan will inform the submission of a planning application to secure the long-term future of the site.
