Refuse and Recycling Service suspended - Wednesday 13 January

Released on 13 January 2010

Stratford District Council's Refuse and Recycling collections have been suspended today, Wednesday 13 January.

If weather conditions allow tomorrow, Thursday 14 January, collections will commence where crews finished today with the Wednesday collections and possibly the scheduled Thursday collections.

Further updates will be provided later when more information is available and this may include a further revised schedule due to the disruption caused by the severe weather today.

Stratford District Council would like to apologise for the disruption to the current service and hope that residents bear with us during this spell of winter weather and be assured that we are committed to resuming a normal service as soon as possible.

Hi, Given the current weather and road safety problems, the disruption to refuse and recycling collection services is totally understandable. Once normal service resumes, will collections be taking additional rubbish to that contained in the bins? We've not had any collection since before Christmas and both our recycling and standard waste bins are now full.

I appreciate we have had 'weather' problems but still our rubbish remains outside awaiting collection!! We cannot put black sacks out as additional rubbish as living in the sticks they would be constantly ripped apart by foxes! So I am now struggling with the overflow of rubbish, guess we will have to go at our own cost the to the local recycling centre and dispose of it ourselves!! Other services are getting through... postal, calor gas tankers, oil tankers.... some of the fuel tankers are still out delivering at 8pm or later.. why can't your guys work longer hours, have extended shifts until this 'mess is sorted out' Far from impressed with the service provided especially after we are paying council tax with our hard and I mean hard earned money for a service you are not providing!! Oh and by the way.. its now Saturday and no sign of any refuse collection... may we look forward to one on Sunday??? Live at Redlands by the way.. just outside Lighthorne..........
