BT planned to remove a number of payphones across Stratford District and wrote to Stratford-on-Avon District Council as part of a formal consultation process on their proposed programme of public payphone removals. The Company state that the number of calls made from payphones has more than halved in the last three years and 60% of payphones no longer cover their costs.
A total of 51 payphones had been earmarked for closure in Stratford District.

Final Decision
The Council has issued a final decision in response to the consultation where it proposes to object to the removal of 30 of the payphones listed above. (In bold text.)
