Nomination Categories and Criteria

The Sports Awards 2008 will be held on 18th January 2008. Nominations in all the following categories need to be submitted using the Nomination Form to the Council offices by 16th November 2007.

Community Award

This award will be made to a person or persons who have made a significant contribution to the Community through sport in 2007.

Junior Sports Person

This category is open to girls and boys under the age if 18 as at 31st December 2007.

Senior Sports Person

This category is open to individuals 18 years and over as at 31st December 2007.

Junior Team of the year

This category is also open to teams of 2 (i.e. doubles in tennis) and above. The school team can be either primary or secondary.

All team members must be 17 and under as at 31st December 2007. (Exception - School teams may include pupils who turn 18 by August 31st 2008 i.e. 6th form students).

Senior Team of the year

This category is also open to teams of 2 or more people. All team members should be 18 years or over by 31st December 2007. (Exception - Teams of 6 people or more i.e. Basketball, Rugby etc may include no more than two under 18's).

Club or Individual Coach/School P.E. Teacher

The coach or P.E. teacher may be a voluntary or paid position but the person must have made a significant contribution to improving the standard of an individual, club or school in any sport.

Club Volunteer/Club Administrator

This category is open to individuals who make a large voluntary commitment or contribution to the day to day running and administration of a club.

Service to Sport award

The Service to Sport category is for an individual who has made a notable contribution to sport within the Stratford-on-Avon District over many years with one or more clubs or sports. This is an award to that special someone who has enriched many sports lives along the way.
