The Sports Development Team is currently involved in a number of initiatives aimed at supporting sports coaches. These include:

CSW Sport is a partnership of key organisations that are committed to work together to contribute to the development of sport and active recreation across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire. It is one of 6 County Sports Partnerships within the West Midlands and one of 49 across England.

Running Sport Courses The Running Sport programme is made up of workshops, booklets and home study packs which advise you on almost all aspects of managing, developing and administering your club.

The Sports Development Team works with and employs qualified sports coaches. Stratford-on-Avon District Council coaches are provided with full support in terms of planning professional development. There are 4 levels of sports coaches:

  • Junior Coach
  • Assistant Coach
  • Coach
  • Senior coach

Jobs are advertised regularly.

Sports Club Development

Clubs are the heart of sport. Stratford-on-Avon District Council views the ongoing development of local clubs as an essential requirement for the successful growth of sport throughout the district.

Club Development aims to provide opportunities for sports clubs to understand issues such as safety & child protection, attracting new members, applying for funds, achieving relevant governing body accreditation and coach/official/volunteer development.

One of the core areas of work within the Active Sports Framework is club development. Active Sports believe that by developing a network of quality sports clubs, which are accessible and welcoming, more young people will want to develop their sporting talent. Sport England's Club Mark Accreditation has been produced to help new and existing clubs to develop, improve the way they operate and establish the kind of procedures that need to be in place to ensure that good practice in club development work becomes standard practice across the country.

The Sports Development Team has considerable experience in the area of club development and can offer help and advice. For more information on this please contact us using the details below. If you wish to know more about the grants available to support club development, including Stratford-on-Avon District Council grants, please contact our Grants Officer on 01789 260694.
